We are looking forward to ‘An Afternoon of Tributes to Buchi Emecheta’ which holds this weekend. The event scheduled to hold in Lagos will feature readings from/and discussions around the works of BUCHI EMECHETA, the Nigerian author of “The Bride Price” and other novels, who passed on earlier this year [January 2017].
According to the organisers Friends of the Arts [an affliate of the Committee For Relevant Art (CORA)], the working subject of the conversation is that, even though she has passed, her work continues in the works of several Nigerian female writers who have taken her concerns even farther.
Among the panel of speakers at the tribute are Sefi Atta, Molara Wood, Chika Unigwe, Jumoke Verissimo and other Nigerian authors. Her son, Sylvester Onwordi, who published a very moving tribute to her in the “New Statesman” is flying in from London to take part in the event
