After years of putting out really great music, folk/Soul/Alternative singer Bemyoda finally releases his debut album STARK through a one-of-a-kind multimedia exhibition which will feature music from the album and an amazing collection of photographs taken by the musician while traveling across Nigeria.
The exhibition which will hold at the Red Door Gallery in Victoria Island, Lagos, opens today, Saturday the 27th of May and runs through Monday, the 29th of May, 2017.
“… So we thought to put a twist to the album listening experience” Bemyoda says “This will be a first-of-its-kind multimedia exhibition with images inspired by the music that makes up Stark. I’m both excited and apprehensive, but I’m very grateful to all the brands who agreed to support this in one way or the other, and to everyone who encouraged me to do it. I look forward to seeing every one of you!”
When Bemyoda released His EP Sketch in 2013, Notjustok said of him ” This guy’s talent is incredible! We’ve been keeping tabs on [him] for at least a year and… he’s one of my favourite up & coming acts. Bemyoda is a cross-breed between Bez, Praiz, Asa, and their overall daddy, John Legend, but at the same time, he still maintains his own identity. That’s a great set of acts to be compared with. He’s surely in good company…”
About the album Trans Africa Radio says “…with 10 tracks that takes the listener on a sad, soulful, quirky and up beat sing along journey, Bemyoda seeks to further establish his sound and explore territories previously uncharted…”
Bemyoda’s music is pure lyrical art and his photographs have such a mild intensity to them – powerful and penetrating, yet soothing at the same time, so this is one exhibition we are looking forward to.
